SANTA ANA — One man was killed and another wounded in a Friday afternoon drive-by shooting in the 600 block of North Figueroa Street, police said.
Witnesses said a dark-colored compact car followed the victims, who were in a gray Mazda, as they drove down the street. When the Mazda stopped, a gunman in the suspect car opened fire with a handgun, according to Sgt. Ken Gominsky.
The Mazda crashed into the garage of a home on the street. The driver died at the scene and the passenger “received injuries that were not life-threatening,” Gominsky said.
The victims, whose names were not released, did not appear to be gang members and no motive is yet known for the shooting, Gominsky said.
