Iwerks Entertainment, a Burbank developer of specialty theaters, said it has signed contracts with a total value of about $5 million to develop four new theaters, including the company’s first 3-D theater to be erected in the Ontario Mills Mall in San Bernardino County.
The planned 3-D theater, which will be operated jointly by San Bernardino County government and Ogden Entertainment of New York, is scheduled to open in 1997.
In addition, Iwerks plans to open giant-screen theaters at San Simeon, the estate of the late William Randolph Hearst, and in Nagasaki, Japan, and Bandung, Indonesia, where construction has already started, the company said.
