400,000 Israelis Strike Against Privatization

JERUSALEM — Hospitals, airports and state-run radio stations shut down for an hour Monday to protest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s mass privatization plans.
The strike by 400,000 workers, backed by Israel’s Histadrut trade union, indicated the strong opposition Netanyahu will face as he tries to rein in inflation and reduce the government deficit.
