Trolley, Concerts May Lure Shoppers

Santa Paula is hoping that a new once-a-month trolley service and celebration will bring new life to the small town’s business district.
Beginning Sunday, the public is welcome to ride the free trolley between the town’s old railroad depot and the airport--about six blocks--and shop at area stores.
Sponsored by the Santa Paula Downtown Merchants’ Assn., the trolley will run the first Sunday of every month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stores that are ordinarily closed on Sundays will be open, and free concerts are planned at the old depot.
“We want to attract tourists and bring some new life into the downtown,” said Elaine Musselman, a spokeswoman for the merchants group.
