Reporting on Camera Plan

* Your article “Banner Effort,” July 5, by Beth Shuster is a good example of irresponsible reporting.
If criminals think there are cameras surveying the area--all to the good. What was accomplished by her writing an article saying there really are no cameras? The only ones helped are the criminals.

* Thanks for setting us straight. I had no idea that, contrary to what the new banners along Parthenia Street say, there really are no video cameras. I’m sure those for whom the banners were intended also feel a great indebtedness to Shuster and her editors for this revelation. Now that you’ve exposed the fib, they can get on with their usual illegal activities.
Thanks; your support and encouragement of this very innovative and inexpensive effort to help reduce crime in Los Angeles has been invaluable.
