An El Salvadoran national was shot and killed early Monday morning at a pay phone on a sidewalk in North Hills, police said.
The 20-year-old victim, a resident of North Hills, was at the corner of Roscoe and Sepulveda boulevards at 2 a.m. when two unidentified men in a red pickup truck pulled up beside him, according to police. One suspect fired four shots with a 9-millimeter pistol, hitting the victim in the upper torso, police said.
The victim was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are withholding his name pending notification of next of kin.
Police say they have no motive for the killing and the investigation is continuing.
