Markus Koistinen, Finland’s second best shot-putter, will not travel to the Olympics after testing positive for drugs at Helsinki.
“We have received information from the anti-doping committee that says a sample given by Koistinen was positive,” said Antti Pihlakoski, director of the Finnish Amateur Athletic Association.
“It was a banned hormone substance,” Pihlakoski said, but gave no further details. . . . World track’s governing body will have the final say on doping cases involving Australian sprinter Dean Copobianco and Italian high jumper Antonella Bevilacqua, the IOC said Monday. The International Amateur Athletic Federation is scheduled to rule on both cases Thursday.
