Replacement Trustees to Be Elected

A successor to Tom Saenz, who retired earlier this month from the board of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, will be chosen by voters in November, trustees decided this week.
After a public hearing Monday, the board chose not to appoint someone to fill Saenz’s seat, which would have come open in November. Doing so would be a disservice to the appointee and the district, trustees said.
Saenz’s retirement followed the resignation in June of Shirley A. Ralston. Her successor also will be elected in November to complete a term that expires in 1997.
Besides the two vacant positions, the posts held by Board President Enriqueta L. Ramos and Trustees Brian E. Conley and Michael Ortell also will be open in November.
