Hot Glass

These serving pieces shaped like pea pods are the work of glass artist Beatrice Tesdorpf. They’re made by laying several pieces of colored glass on top of a piece of clear or colored glass and then fusing them in a 1,000-degree kiln. After cooling, the glass is cut and, if a shape is desired, heated over a form to 1,250 degrees and left to “slump” to the correct shape.
