Update / Follow-up on the news : Landscaping Project at Civic Center OKd
- Share via
The Civic Center will be spruced up with $500,000 of landscaping as part of a master plan for improving the downtown area.
Permission to move ahead with the project was granted last week by the City Council, which will review and possibly modify detailed design drawings when they are available.
Funded by the city Redevelopment Agency, the project will create a palm tree-lined walking path linking West Harbor Place with Center Street. The pathway will run diagonally between City Hall and the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce building.
The plan also calls for a row of tall palm trees on the east side of Anaheim Boulevard in front of City Hall.
The city is holding off, however, on an additional $700,000 in Civic Center improvements that were debated by the council in June. That work would have included reconstructing the concrete areas and steps in front of City Hall and adding a fountain.
