McDonnell Rocket Damaged in Crash: The Clipper Graham, an experimental rocket being developed by McDonnell Douglas Corp.’s space group in Huntington Beach, was “severely damaged” in a landing accident at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, the company said. As it completed a two-minute, 20-second flight, the rocket--which takes off and lands vertically--tipped over and caught fire after one of its four landing gears failed to open, McDonnell said. The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
