Gateway to Sell New PC Through Stores: Gateway 2000 Inc., breaking away from its traditional business of selling personal computers over the telephone, said it will offer its new big-screen PC through retailers. The machine, which is equipped with a 31-inch screen, will have a starting price of about $4,000 and will be offered at CompUSA stores. It will continue to be sold directly by the company through its catalogs, toll-free order lines and Internet Web site. The North Sioux City, S.D.-based company is the nation’s seventh-largest PC maker.
