Rolando M. Garcia; Electrical Engineer

Rolando M. Garcia of Oxnard, an electrical engineer who spent the past two years in Algeria working at a liquid natural gas plant, has died in Ventura after a brief illness. He was 52.
Garcia was born June 10, 1944, in Manila.
He had lived in Oxnard for seven years and was employed by Test Inc., a Ventura electrical firm.
Garcia had long overseas experience, including a stint in the Middle East in the 1970s, said Rich Kreuz, a manager with the firm.
In 1994, he was sent to Algeria, where he was a construction supervisor on a project to upgrade a liquid natural gas plant.
“He took pride in his work,” Kreuz said. “Somebody like him keeps 10 people busy.”
Garcia is survived by his wife, Corazon ; two sons, Rolando Jr. and Joel; and two daughters, Myra and Lanie, all of the Philippines.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard.
Interment will take place in Manila.
