Man, 67, Dies After Being Hit While Crossing Street

CANOGA PARK — A 67-year-old man died just before noon Tuesday after being struck by a pickup truck, police said.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the man as Abdelmesih Ibrahim of Canoga Park.
Ibrahim was walking near Winnetka Avenue and Sherman Way when he was hit, said LAPD Sgt. Ron White of the Valley Traffic Division. A 17-year-old boy was driving his pickup truck north on Winnetka when the man darted into traffic, White said.
Officers released the teenager. “To us, right now, it looks like it was the pedestrian’s fault,” White said, noting that the victim was not in a crosswalk.
Ibrahim was pronounced dead at the scene.
