City Wants Role as Location for Movies

Like a would-be actor, Stanton is hoping to be discovered by Hollywood.
The City Council passed an ordinance on Tuesday that will make it easier for producers to get permits to make movies in their town.
“Maybe we can finally get Elizabeth Taylor to come to Stanton,” said Councilman Sal Sapien. In 1993, Taylor, then married to Stanton-raised Larry Fortensky, was invited to the dedication of Stanton’s new City Hall. Neither attended the ceremony.
The city also has teamed up with the Orange County Film Commission, which helps production firms find locations to shoot.
Christie Silverberg, a representative of the commission, said the first order of business is to get new pictures of the city to show to entertainment executives.
“We don’t have very many Stanton pictures in our library,” she said.
