Welfare for County Workers

Re “Drug-Addicted Women Losing County’s Help Kicking Habits,” Sept. 2:
First it’s “business as usual,” with retroactive pay raises for county employees after the so-called “worst county bankruptcy ever.” Then it’s budget cuts for social services everywhere, the most recent being the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division of the county Health Care Agency.
The whole matter smells to high heaven of bureaucratic welfare and self-serving chicanery. Others may call it what they will--I call it criminal.
