Rio Hondo 34, Pierce 19-- The Brahmas couldn’t hold a 16-14 halftime lead and dropped a nonconference season opener at Rio Hondo.
Pierce alternated quarterbacks. Jim Landress completed six of 16 for 58 yards with three interceptions and a touchdown and Dan McMullen was 13 of 27 for 104 yards. Wide receiver Jermaine Brooks had eight receptions for 99 yards and one touchdown.
