From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Navy ships returned to the site off Long Island of the TWA Flight 800 explosion for what investigators hope will be a final push to pick up wreckage. Interrupted by high waves from three hurricanes that never directly hit the region, the Navy had to send its ships to safe anchor. The salvage effort is considered critical to learning what caused Flight 800 to explode July 17. The bodies of 213 of the 230 people aboard the jet have been recovered.
