Esperanza Beats Chino Hills Ayala

CHINO — David Parrish passed for 182 yards and two touchdowns and running back Jamaal Footman rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown to lead Esperanza past Chino Hills Ayala, 35-32, in a nonleague game Friday at Chino High.
Esperanza led, 35-13, with 6 minutes 22 seconds left, but Ayala scored three touchdowns in four minutes, the last with 28 seconds left. After the first two touchdowns, Ayala missed both two-point conversion attempts. The Bulldogs kicked a PAT after the final touchdown.
The Aztecs recovered a Bulldog on-side kick and ran out the clock.
Esperanza (1-1), which led at halftime, 14-13, scored two touchdowns in a two-minute span of the third quarter. Jamie Smith scored on a one-yard run and Footman went 73 yards for another touchdown. Brent Garrison’s three-yard touchdown run put Esperanza up, 35-13.
Ayala (1-1) then rallied.
Matt Johnson, who led the Bulldogs with 130 yards rushing in 15 carries, scored his touchdown on a five-yard run with 4:34 left. The Aztecs failed to get a first down on their next possession and Ayala drove 63 yards in seven plays, with Antoine Cameron scoring on a three-yard run with less than two minutes remaining.
The Bulldogs got the ball one more time, after stopping Footman on a fourth-and-three play at the Ayala 37. Four plays later, Bulldog quarterback Mike Frost threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Alvarado with 28 seconds left.
