The Rev. Henri J.M. Nouwen, 64, Dutch theologian and author of about 30 books on spirituality. In addition to his writing, Nouwen taught at Notre Dame University, Yale Divinity School and Harvard Divinity School. He also served as pastor of L’Arche Daybreak Community in Toronto, a nondenominational organization that operates residences for people with mental disabilities.
