Marquand, the Orange County runner of the year last year, is showing she’s no flash in the pan. In her first three meets of the season, she has posted the day’s best time. Saturday, she became the first girl to break 17 minutes at the Dana Hills Invitational since Edison’s Shelley Taylor in 1991, finishing the three-mile course in 16:54.
Dana Atkinson/Volleyball/Outside Hitter
* Huntington Beach, senior. Averaged 16.7 kills in victories over Irvine, Newport Harbor and Dana Hills.
Meghan Koolbaugh/Volleyball/Outside Hitter
* El Modena, senior. Led the Vanguards in kills, digs and aces as they won the University tournament title.
Michelle Weisz/Tennis/Singles
* El Dorado, senior. Lost only seven games in nine sets, helping victories over Villa Park, El Modena and Esperanza.
