A truck fire at a wood recycling plant in Ventura early Wednesday caused an estimated $250,000 damage.
The fire started about 2:30 a.m. in a semitruck at the California Wood Recycling plant at 3450 Ventura Road, Fire Department Battalion Chief Bill Rigg said.
The blaze quickly spread to a wood chipper attached to the truck and a large conveyor belt, Rigg said. About 14 firefighters extinguished the blaze and put out several small fires that ignited in piles of wood chips in the company’s yard, he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
