Jack’s back. State Sen. Jack O’Connell plans to set up shop today at the corner of California and Main streets in downtown Ventura from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to hear the concerns of his constituents.
“It’s for anyone who has an issue or concern, or who just wants to stop and say, ‘Hi,’ ” said O’Connell’s spokeswoman, Kris Kuzmich.
O’Connell (D-San Luis Obispo) has unfolded his card table “desk” on street corners to listen to constituents’ concerns since first being elected to public office in 1982.
“His constituents rely on it,” Kuzmich said.
“It’s something folks have become real used to.”
He has held regular meetings--roughly every six to eight weeks--with Ventura residents at the corner of California and Main for the past six years, Kuzmich said.
