Roy’s Seven Goals Provide Edge for Rancho Santiago

Johnny Roy had seven goals, including the winner with 17 seconds remaining to give Rancho Santiago a 10-9 victory over San Diego Mesa in an Orange Empire Conference men’s water polo game Tuesday in San Diego.
David Vega scored twice for the Dons (7-9, 1-5). Mesa is 6-9, 1-5.
In other Orange Empire Conference water polo:
Grossmont 12, Saddleback 3--Ed and Steve Carerra and Brian Ealy scored for visiting Saddleback (6-8-1, 4-2). Grossmont (15-2-2, 6-0) remained in first place.
Orange Coast 19, Palomar 14--Jake French, Ross Mulholland and Michael Bisc each scored four goals to lead Golden West (9-7-1, 5-1).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Golden West 1, Fullerton 0--Sinh Luong scored in the 75th minute to help the Rustlers post their first victory of the season. Manny Rodriguez had seven saves for host Golden West (1-7-1, 1-0).
Rancho Santiago 5, Cypress 1--Juan Lopez scored three goals and Steve Cervantes and Jose Cadena each had one for Rancho Santiago (6-1-1, 1-0).
Ronald Weber scored the lone goal for Cypress (1-5, 0-1).
