Volleyball/Setter
It’s difficult for French, from Calvary Chapel High, to get much attention in her sport. Normally outside hitters are recognized for setting up kills. But French has created a niche as a server. She had five aces in two victories last week to set the Orange Coast single-season record of 76. She had 73 assists and 10 digs as Orange Coast beat San Bernardino Valley, 17-15, 15-6, 14-16, 15-5, and Rio Hondo, 15-7, 15-4, 16-14.
Volleyball

* Cypress, freshman. She had 33 kills as Cypress won three matches to improve to 4-2. The Chargers won only three matches last season.
