The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team already has knocked off one giant in its first year, and tonight the Matadors go for another.

Northridge (3-8-1) will play host to USC (7-4) at 7 at North Campus Stadium. It is the first meeting between the teams.

Northridge, which has lost five of its past six matches, defeated UCLA, 2-1, at home on Sept. 10. The Matadors’ leading scorers are sophomore midfielder Amy Gill and junior forward Rhiannon Clow, each with nine points.

Women’s soccer: At 4 p.m., U.S. International at Master’s.

Men’s soccer: At 2 p.m., U.S. International at Master’s. At 4 p.m., Occidental at Cal Lutheran; Cuyamaca vs. Mission at Pierce College.

High school events in the region today include:

Water polo: At 3 p.m., Monrovia at Burroughs. At 3:15 p.m., Arcadia at Crescenta Valley, Newbury Park at Royal, Agoura at Thousand Oaks. At 3:30 p.m., Alemany vs. Crespi at Pierce College, Notre Dame at Harvard-Westlake.

Girls’ volleyball: At 2:45 p.m., Van Nuys at North Hollywood, Reseda at Poly, Monroe at Sylmar, Canoga Park at Grant. At 3:15 p.m., Muir at Hoover.

Girls’ tennis: At 2:30 p.m., Buena at Newbury Park. At 3:15 p.m., Glendale at Crescenta Valley.

Cross-country: At 3 p.m., Agoura and Westlake at Royal, Simi Valley at Channel Islands, Paraclete at Mojave. At 3:30 p.m., Murphy vs Bell-Jeff at Griffith Park.
