ORANGE — A 17-year-old boy was in critical condition Monday after being shot in the stomach in a possible gang attack, police said.
The teenager, who was not identified, was shot about 10:15 p.m. while standing with a group of friends in the 500 block of South Parker Street, according to Officer Kelvin Van Gorder.
Three males, believed to be 17 or 18, approached the group of five boys after slowly driving by earlier in the evening, Van Gorder said. One of the attackers opened fire with a .22-caliber automatic handgun, police said.
The victim was taken to UCI Medical Center for emergency surgery and remained at the hospital Monday, Van Gorder said.
Witnesses described the car as a blue or gray Honda Accord with chrome, starburst-style tire rims, Van Gorder said.
