No praises for the Pacific Lumber Co., which in its salvage logging of the Headwaters old-growth redwood forest (Oct. 11) has unconcernedly nudged our hapless planet another step toward Shakespeare’s last scene of all: biological oblivion, sans what is natural, sans what is miraculous, sans what is beautiful and inspiring, sans everything.
