Strathearn Museum Recruiting Docents
Simi Valley’s Strathearn Historical Park and Museum is looking for a few good guides in anticipation of reopening the quake-damaged Strathearn home this spring for public tours.
The 1892 Victorian home and the early 1800s El Rancho Simi Adobe attached to it underwent extensive repairs after the 1994 earthquake and are now being refurnished.
Once they are reopened, the historical park will need volunteer docents who can teach visitors about the Chumash roots of the Spanish land grant known as El Rancho Simi, and how they grew into today’s city of Simi Valley.
Docents will receive training on four evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. in early November.
For information, call Sari Schnepf, docent recruiter, at (805) 526-6453.
