Village Christian 21, Kilpatrick 18--David Romberger rushed on all seven plays of a 42-yard drive that culminated on a three-yard touchdown with 49 seconds left to give the Crusaders (5-2, 1-1) an Alpha League victory at Kennedy High.

Romberger finished with 226 yards in 40 carries.

The winning drive was a redemption for Romberger, whose fumble on his 10-yard line was returned for a go-ahead touchdown by Jason Minter with nine minutes remaining.

The Village Christian defense came on strong in the second half, holding the Mustangs (1-5, 1-1) to 35 yards total offense after surrendering 200 yards in the first half.

Rashad Smith gained 166 yards in 13 carries for Kilpatrick.
