Author Amy Tan to Talk at Cal Lutheran

Amy Tan, the author of “The Joy Luck Club,” will present a free lecture Monday at 10 a.m. at Cal Lutheran University’s Samuelson Chapel.
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Tan is also the author of “The Kitchen God’s Wife,” “The Moon Lady” and “The Chinese Siamese Cat.” Her latest work is “The Hundred Secret Senses.”
Tan graduated from high school in Montreaux, Switzerland, and earned her master’s degree in linguistics from San Jose State University.
Today, as part of the university’s Brown Bag series, an informal discussion of Chinese American culture and Tan’s novels will be held at noon in the university’s Women’s Resource Center. Featured speakers are professors Diana Tsaw, business; Pamela Brubaker, religion and women’s studies; and John Kundert-Gibbs, English.
Both events are open to the public. The university is located at 60 W. Olsen Road.
