A runway at John Wayne Airport was temporarily closed Monday night after a Cessna pilot forgot to lower the landing gear and skidded to a stop, authorities said.

The plane suffered minor damage, but neither person aboard was injured, according to Federal Aviation Administration operations officer Diana Jourbart.
