From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Space shuttle Columbia was set for blastoff today, carrying a five-member crew, NASA officials at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida said. The crew of five includes Story Musgrave, who at 61 will become the oldest person in space. This will be his sixth trip in orbit, equaling the record currently held by John Young. With this mission, Musgrave will have flown on all five of NASA’s shuttle orbiters. The main goal of Columbia’s 16-day flight will be the release and later recovery of two science satellites.
