Maxine C. Sanders, 71; Music Instructor

Maxine C. Sanders, a Port Hueneme homemaker who spent her life teaching music, died Monday. She was 71.
Sanders was born in Los Angeles on March 8, 1925, and moved to Ventura 15 years ago. She graduated from UCLA with a master’s degree in music education. She was a supervisor of music at Wiseburn School District in Los Angeles County until she retired.
In her spare time she volunteered with Silver Spoons Auxiliary of Los Angeles Childrens Hospital. She was also a member of Laderians Women’s Assn.
She is survived by her husband, Vern Sanders, and her daughter, Kristine Sanders, both of Port Hueneme.
Memorial services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Pastor David Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church will preside. Her ashes will be placed in an urn at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
