Western Michigan Coach Al Molde was fired after 10 seasons.
Molde’s position appeared in jeopardy since mid-October, when Athletic Director Jim Weaver asked him to consider taking another job in the department. When the news leaked, players and team boosters rushed to the coach’s defense.
Molde had a record of 62-47-2, but 2-9 this season.
