No Misgivings About Thursday Practice

With a day game today, the Ducks couldn’t call off Thanksgiving Day practice because they needed the preparation time after playing Wednesday night. Not that it was a great inconvenience for the players. Only three are American: Guy Hebert, Ted Drury and Joe Sacco. Thirteen Canadians celebrated Thanksgiving on Oct. 14. The coaches, though, are all U.S. citizens.

The result wasn’t so bad--a 3-2 loss to St. Louis in which the Ducks nearly scored the tying goal--but Wilson came away concerned that the Ducks didn’t play their most effective style Wednesday night.
“We didn’t get our forecheck going,” he said, praising center Kevin Todd’s line with Jari Kurri and Brian Bellows as the only effective one for much of the game.
The Ducks thrive when they keep pressure on the other team as it tries to move out of its end, hoping to force turnovers.
Winger Warren Rychel was upset with the Ducks’ work ethic in the game, rating it a “zero.”
