GOP Women

Gosh, Laura A. Ingraham is pretty (“Commitment, Not Sweet Talk,” Commentary, Nov. 26). Pretty as Alicia Silverstone, and just as “clueless” when it comes to soccer moms. I hate to criticize a joke I rated “not bad for a Republican,” but Ingraham nailed the problem Bob Dole and the Republicans had all along when she defined the soccer moms as women torn between taking “the Range Rover or the Lexus to pick Johnny up after practice.”

Yes there are soccer moms like that. About 10 of them and they all voted for Dole. The thousands of other soccer moms anguish over not having the time to pick up their kids because they don’t want to risk their jobs by taking time off. But they do it anyway.

I suggest Ingraham and her friends go out into the real world and meet some of these real soccer moms. Better hurry. Those 10 Lexus-driving soccer moms may not vote Republican next time.
