Top Players Ready for Section Event

The top 16 singles players and doubles teams will be competing today at the Racquet Club of Irvine in the Southern Section individual girls’ tennis championships. Oxnard Rio Mesa’s Zuzana Stunova will be back to defend her singles title. Her main competition should come from Woodbridge senior Natalie Exon, Mater Dei freshman Melissa Esmero and Corona del Mar junior Nina Vaughan.
The favored team in the doubles tournament is Villa Park’s Faye DeVera and Katey Becker. DeVera and Becker, also a talented singles player, will get pushed by Palos Verdes Peninsula’s Becky Rajfer and Nikole Cabe and Corona del Mar’s Nadia Vaughan and Caylan Leslie.
