A 16-year-old Oxnard boy pleaded not guilty Friday to the shooting death of a 14-year-old in May.
Albert Madueno is scheduled to be tried as an adult Feb. 10 in the death of Ralph David Rico Jr., who was shot several times in the chest May 14 on a sidewalk outside his aunt’s Oxnard home.
Police say Madueno was caught after boasting of the shooting to fellow gang members. But in November, Madueno told a juvenile court judge that he had been lying when he made those boasts, trying to impress an older gang member.
