One clear measure of the power of the decade-long bull market in stocks is the Federal Reserve Board figures indicating that the total value of household stock holdings has exceeded the total value of home equity for the first time since the 1920s. For 1995, the figures were estimated at $5.5 trillion in stocks, $4.2 trillion in homes. By now, the difference is probably more dramatic.
