I want to particularly thank you for your article on fraudulent travel agent credentials (“Not All Card-Carrying Travel Agents Get the Discounts,” Travel Insider, Nov. 10). You have helped educate the public and hopefully prevented many unsuspecting consumers from wasting $500 or more on worthless identification cards.
I have, unfortunately, had to speak with a number of our passengers who thought they could use these mail-order cards to access Reno Air’s travel-professional discounts. The only card we recognize is a valid IATAN [International Airlines Travel Agent Network] card; yet every week we see other types of phony identification presented for discounts.
