PRODIGIOUS SUM: A bidding war is under way among major labels for colorful techno-dance group the Prodigy, which is currently on the indie Mute label. While that plays out, the outfit is at work on its much-anticipated next album, which will likely feature at least two intriguing collaborations.

The group has just finished a psychedelic-toned song featuring current Brit-pop sensation Crispian Mills of Kula Shaker and is in the midst of working on a track with Skin, the brash singer of Skunk Anansie. The album will also include the group’s 1996 international hit “Firestarter.”
