Lung Assn. to Offer Stop-Smoking Classes

The American Lung Assn. of Orange County has a program to help people keep their New Year’s resolutions to quit smoking.
The association offers several eight-week Freedom From Smoking courses throughout the county.
A new round of classes begins in January.
A June study by the state Department of Health Services found that 17.9% of Californians over 18 smoke, an increase of 2.4% over the previous six months.
The rise in smoking among adults follows at least five years of steady decline and comes on the heels of studies showing a rise in smoking among teenagers.
Freedom From Smoking clinics will be held at the Talbert Medical Group, Anaheim; Talbert Medical Group, Fountain Valley; Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Newport Beach; Placentia Linda Community Hospital, Placentia; Chapman Medical Center, Orange; and Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, Mission Viejo.
