Blood Drive to Take Place at Church

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd will host a special blood drive on Sunday, Jan. 5.
The blood drive--called Save-A-Life Sunday--is being conducted by the Orange County chapter of the American Red Cross, which has set a goal of collecting 470 units of blood at these Sunday events. Blood shortages typically occur during the holiday season of late December and early January, said a Red Cross spokeswoman.
Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health and not at risk for HIV/AIDS, is eligible to donate blood.
The church, at 7082 Crescent Ave., will hold the drive from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
For more information or to make an appointment to donate blood, call the Red Cross at (800) 491-2113.
