Katella Boys Again Win Tournament

Joe Barraza scored 11 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead Katella to a 54-49 victory over Torrance Bishop Montgomery in the championship game of the Katella boys’ basketball tournament on Monday. Katella also won the tournament last year.
The Knights (10-3), who won their ninth consecutive game, were tied, 31-31, after three quarters. Barraza and Bishop Montgomery’s Delano D’Oyen traded baskets during the fourth quarter before Barraza’s three-point play put the Knights up by two with 45 seconds remaining.
Bishop Montgomery’s Solomon Hughes then missed a breakaway dunk attempt that would have tied the score and Katella made its free throws down the stretch.
