Cotton Scores 24, but 49ers Lose, 78-69

North Texas snapped a six-game losing streak with a 78-69 Big West Conference victory over Long Beach State on Sunday before 2,026 at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas.
Guard James Cotton scored a game-high 24 points for Long Beach, which dropped to 7-11 overall and 3-5 in the Western Division. Long Beach is 1-9 on the road and has lost its last four road games. Forward D’Cean Bryant contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Forward T.J. Atkins led North Texas (7-11, 2-6) with 18 points. Reserve forward Chuck Thrash had 16 points and five assists.
