Saddleback Stadium Renovation Delayed

MISSION VIEJO — Renovation of the baseball stadium at Saddleback College, which was to begin March 1, has been delayed one week to accommodate an architectural adjustment to the plans, Dave Aires, spokesman for the Mission Viejo Vigilantes baseball team, said Thursday.
Aires said the delay won’t affect the minor league team’s scheduled home opener on May 23 because construction workers will be working more shifts to complete the project. Renovation includes lowering the field and moving it some 20-40 feet east of its present location.
The delay is good news for the Saddleback baseball team, which now can play its first round of Orange Empire Conference games at home. Saddleback will host Fullerton on Thursday, Riverside on March 1 and Rancho Santiago March 6.
