Expos Renew Contract of Unhappy Grudzielanek

Montreal Expo shortstop Mark Grudzielanek had his contract renewed by the team Sunday, a day after he staged a one-day strike to protest what he called an unfair offer.
Grudzielanek’s contract was renewed at a salary lower than the reported $250,000 the team had offered, Expo General Manager Jim Beattie said. Grudzielanek is to be paid about $225,000 this season.
Also renewed were third baseman Shane Andrews and pitchers Ugueth Urbina, Carlos Perez and Derek Aucoin.
