FDA Approves Biopsy System

IRVINE — Biopsys Medical Inc. said Wednesday it has received pre-market clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for its Mammotome Biopsy System. Biopsys said the clearance allows it to market Mammotome specifically for breast biopsy for diagnostic purposes. In February, the company resolved FDA concerns that the device was being used for a broader application.
