Sailor’s Legs Broken in Carrier Mishap

A jet fighter taking off from the U.S. aircraft carrier Independence during maneuvers with Australian forces accidentally slammed shut a ship hatch with its wing, breaking the legs of a sailor on deck. The sailor was flown to Sydney for treatment.
